دوره آموزشی فهرست نگاری نسخه های خطی اسلامی در مرکز دایره المعارف بزرگ اسلامی برگزار خواهد شد
International Training Course in the Cataloguing of Islamic Manuscripts Al-Furqān Islamic Heritage Foundation in London and the The Centre for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia (Markaz Dā’irat al-Ma‘ārif-e Buzurg-e Islamī) in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, are jointly organizing an international training course in the cataloguing of Islamic manuscripts. Nominations are invited from public and academic libraries, as well as private libraries with holdings of Islamic manuscripts. The course will cover all aspects of this very specialized area in order to ensure the preservation of valuable Islamic heritage, and to make it more accessible for researchers and academics. Wars and other disasters, both natural and man-made, have caused the destruction of millions of manuscripts in all regions of the world. Nevertheless there remains a wealth of manuscripts held in national, public and private libraries. However, manuscripts are often stored without proper indexing and cataloguing. In some cases, they are kept in conditions that result in their deterioration. Since such areas are highly specialized, resources to ensure the proper preservation of manuscripts are often unavailable. The subject is not taught in universities, and the skills and experience are not acquired. To redress this situation, al-Furqān Islamic Heritage Foundation organized a tailor-made course to provide libraries and academic institutions with such skills and knowledge. The course has already been run five times with the cooperation of some reputable academic institutions in Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, England and Malaysia. It is planned to run this course again in the Islamic Republic of Iran to extend this knowledge to the region.
