The Department of Art and Architecture is responsible for writing and editing artistic articles. Iranian culture and civilization has an excellent position and status after and before Islam period. Such a position can obviously be seen in other Islamic countries in the past and now. Writing and editing articles, which indicate the artistic activities and creativities, are main tasks of this department. Thus, all artistic works and Islamic artists on history of Islamic world are identified and introduced. Topics of articles vary from city planning and architecture to painting. Biographies of artists and their works, advent and decadence of artistic styles and schools of thoughts, the impression and influence of artistic styles of Islamic nations, introducing and identifying the well-known historical monuments and buildings of Islamic world are included. In addition to authors in The Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia and other scientific centers Iran, while most of the researchers in Islamic art are from western countries, the Art and Architecture invites them to write desired articles.
Other activities of this department are: completing scientific files before articles have been written; providing desired information of authors and researchers such as pictures; slides, and other documents; having close relations with scientific centers such as museums and libraries in Iran and other countries in order to provide required information resources as well as to identify authors and researcher for writing articles; and providing rare books and documents for authors from other countries
